October has been pretty awesome, if you have been following the Facebook page you will see that we have had some pretty cool schools visiting.
We managed to keep nearly up to date with the Facebook page but life has been so fun and hectic we have barley had time to blog about these schools.

These are the schools that have recently spent time at Camp Mungalli.

Gilroy this school came to Mungalli Falls to work on their Leadership skills, they spend some time working on personal challenges and they also took time out to work with the Mungalli staff. I am proud of some of their leadership skills, as they took part in some on site quick problem solving techniques to enable them to still do the Landslide.

Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH) were a pretty amazing group, they were here during a time that Frankie was sightly ill and I loved the care and compassion that these school children showed.

This week we also had a small group from Cairns Adventist they ran around conquering a lot of challenges and activities with various activity staff. We sadly were unable to get photo of this group.

Ryan Catholic school had there Year 12 Leadership camp here, this was run by Alistair from the school and he has a very organised well run program that works well fro everyone involved. Mungalli always loves the year 12 camp as the group has a very formal dinner on the last night. This year is was slightly wet but I don't believe it dampened the mood. The group looked amazing.

Whilst this school was here we also had a day visit from one an International school. This made for an interesting day, as we had about 500 people on site for Breakfast and Dinner. Whilst this day trip was here we tried to achieve as much as possible, the Mungalli Staff had group sizes of 40 to look after with the assistance from some Japanese staff. In the photo you will see Hiro one of our main Japanese employees and he is surrounded by Japanese students.

Biboohra were only here last week and these guys were easy to look after, a small group which is always a pleasure as Mungalli Staff have the opportunity to really engage with the group. We had some pretty cool fun with this school.

Holy Cross also came to Mungalli at the end of October, we done some classic activities working on the team building skills, developing their archery techniques, they conquered the Obstacle and of course they experienced the Landslide. This school over came some unique challenges on the camp whilst they were at Mungalli and we cannot wait to have this school back next year.

Live at Mungalli

A couple of weeks have passed since I updated the blog page, I have only managed to update the Facebook page but never made the blog.

Therefore what has been happening at Mungalli... Well Mungalli has been pretty hectic we had a window of sunshine it feels like and we have seen a lot of groups.

This is some of the groups that have been at Mungalli.

Dingo State School
They traveled far, they even got the opportunity to fly to Townsville making this camp experience a little bit more special with this being the first time for some people in an airplane. Whilst at Mungalli Falls Dingo state school achieved a lot of Mungalli activities, they also went sight seeing and I believe they had a barbecue on the Esplanade.

Whiterock

This school came and we had some fun, taking part in various activities and I wonder which activity was their favorite.

Edge Hill SS

This school came and pulled off 100 children learning CPR as well as taking part in other Mungalli challenges. Achieving the CPR is really cool and they should all be very proud.

St Francis Ayr

This school also stayed for a whole week, hiking to Nandroya fall, panning for gold, canoeing as well as some Mungalli challenges. This school was busy all week driving around the tablelands exploring so many unique elements of the tablelands.

Aitkenvale

This school stayed three days, nearly everyone achieved the abseiling which is fantastic to see. We also conquered some other on site activities.

Whitfield SS

This school divided their group into two camps which was pretty cool. These are the groups photos

Last week

Last week was the busiest week in the year with about 400 students coming t Mungalli Falls.

First we had Ryan Catholic, this school comes to Mungalli twice a year, first camp of the year is the activity based camp. They all do various activities, some run by Mungalli and others run by the school. Next year this group will be back on the second camp of the year the leadership camp, so we will get to see them again which is great.
The weather was absolutely miserable but thankfully that did not hinder there fun.

Following Ryan we had OLHOC (Or Our Lady Help of Christian) These guys divided up into 8 different groups, doing everything from Boomerang to Tubing. Sadly the Tubing was changed due to weather, this was not an issue though and everyone had a lot of fun on camp.

August at Mungalli Falls

Over August Mungalli falls has had 4 different schools visiting. They were all amazing, and I have delayed posting about them all hoping that I would get the permission to post the photo. Sadly that has not happened yet, so I need to continue without the photo.

Mt Garnett came to Mungalli at the beginning of the week, stay 3days and left on the Wednesday. They all claimed they were going to go to school the next day, but I don't believe them. We did have a lot of fun looking after this group, they were a smaller school which really enables us to get a chance to engage with everyone. The school was fun, and relaxed which is a blessing.

St Margaret Marys were the next school here, they arrived the same week as Mt Garnett they were a bigger all girls school. I think there was a higher level of all participation with the all girls school then some mixed schools. During their stay we all took part in some of the core activities of Mungalli Falls, Such as the Team build, Obstacle and landslide being just a few.

Townsville Central

This school tried to do everything and I think they managed it. Fishing, canoeing, abseiling plus the onsite activities such as Obstacle.

This school was fun, great students easy days. The canoeing and fishing was a full day off site, I don't believe many fish were caught but everyone had fun.

Cranbrook

This school was here the same time as Townsville Central, they also tried to do nearly all activities, they had a day canoeing, they achieved the abseiling and the onsite activities. In the evening we accompanied some of them down to the glow worms, these are fascinating creatures. We enjoyed the company of this school and I hope they come back for the full camp next year.

Mareeba SS

Last week we had this school in, we focused on the onsite activities juggling this schools hopes with one other school. The school was fun with only a few issues such as the weather turning on the last few days. The weather turning did not affect the energy of the group, everyone still took part in all activities and loved playing in the mud at the Obstacle course.

Townsville South & Woodstock

These guys were cool, having two schools combine for camp was great to see. These schools spent some time with Clark on the abseil and they also did some other pretty cool activities when they were here. They got the opportunity to work with most activity staff, and we nearly got the chance to put them all to work on their last day when the bus failed to turn up.

Machans Beach

Machans Beach visited last week, they absolutely rocked and it was great to see some of them returning for a second time to Mungalli.

We abseiled nearly all the school. which is a fantastic and I hope they are all very proud of their achievements.

Schools in June

Mungalli Falls has been so hectic that we failed to update the blog and the face book page. We are truly sorry about that one.
The schools that we have missed are Trinity Beach, Mossman, St Agustines Mossman and Caravonica.

Each school was amazing and we hope they had a fab time with us at Mungalli Falls.

Mossman took part in First Aid training, so we can safely say everyone that attended that camp left with an Applied first aid certificate. Now that is cool.

St Augustines Mossman were the first school to try out the new obstacle on the obstacle course.

The riverside slide, and yes you will get extremely muddy now.

Lastly we had Caravonica they were awesome, great school and we still have some fond memories of this school.

Redlynch

Redlynch visited us last week coming in two different groups which was cool. This photo was from the second group and this is their sensible photo, and the only tie they were sensible. It was a wicked week with the school lots went on.

St Francis Xavier

St Francis Xavier visited Mungalli near the end of May, we had such a fantastic time. The weather has also changed at Mungalli so now we have left the wet season really helping camp enthusiasm.

Annandale SS

Annandale SS where here a few weeks ago and not only did they come and do the best activities this school was the first school this year to really experience any blue sky and sunshine. It was such a change from the last three months of rain and drizzle.
Everyone in the school was amazing and they had a fantastic attitude taking part in all activities. Even though we are sadly unable to post a photo of this school they were a lot of Fun and maybe some from this school will join the Mungalli Facebook page and post their own photos.

Can't wait to see these guys again.

St Clares Tully

St Clare's from Tully came to Mungalli a little while ago, and enjoyed the Mungalli Experience for a couple of days. We had a lot of fun taking part in various activities such as the Abseiling and Landslide just to name a few. We even had the opportunity to use the Helmet cam on the abseil site. At the moment we still plan to cut and splice this video together to post on Facebook. This school was so much fun even if they did bring the Tully rain with them. We can not wait to see them next year.

St Teresa's

We had an excellent time with school, they were a lot of fun and we were able to play with the Helmet cam so we have some new footage of the Landslide which is currently on the display at the restaurant.

This school took part in some of the coolest activities, we even checked out the glow worms.
They were a lot of fun due to their enthusiasm and energy, which is a perfect recipe for a fantastic camp at Mungalli.
With this school being a local school I hope to see some of them again soon.

Annandale CC

We have been having so much fun at Mungalli we have barley had time to keep up with the Blog and Facebook.

Annandale was hear only a few weeks ago and we had an excellent time. One day was incredibly packed but we still manged to achieve everything. Most people took part in the Abseiling which is great to see.
The weather at the time was still treacherous but we love to see that this never stops anyone having fun.
Hope to see this school again soon.

William Ross

William Ross came to Mungalli straight after the easter break, the weather has slowly been improving which meant that William Ross enjoyed a couple of clear moments. This group was also the first group that tried out the new Abseiling demo site. Everyone from the school took part in the abseiling with is great to see, our new site was designed to assist in the transfer of skills from practice to the real thing. Hopefully reducing the intimidating factor of the scary cliff. The outcome from William Ross demonstrated that this new site could be the attributing factor to their success or the group really was that amazing that everyone overcame their fears with more ease.

William Ross are a fantastic group, great attitude and full participation they also do some interesting school run activities such as the Huka and the amazing race.
I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and I can't wait to meet next years group.

Kirwan SHS

Just before the easter Holidays we had Kirwan here, and what a week it was. The week was excellent the rain was abysmal, solid non stop rain for the duration of the camp. To be honest there was a couple of hours a day that was not so tragic, although this didn't stop the teachers wading around in gum boots for the duration of the camp. Luckily though the first evening was clear enough for the group to do their night Orienteering. Altogether it was a great week, with great students. Every year Kirwan brings some older students to be leaders and this year we had some fantastic leaders. I will look forward to seeing some of the younger students back as leaders when it is their time.

At this point in time we have no photo's of Kirwan SHS but I hope that maybe some of them will become fans on the Facebook page and post some photos of their own.

Mungalli Falls Schools

This year we have already had a collection of schools and I apologize for not writing sooner.
The schools who have visited and had an amazing time are:
All Souls - A fantastic group who take part in every activity and have an excellent time and are always fond in our memories. We hope to be able to post a photo of them soon.
Good Council - Have a staggered camp, and I fell the second camp lucked out a little on the weather. Altogether is was a fantastic experience.
Marian - I wish I had a photo of this school but sadly the camera had a malfunction we have had the privilege of this school becoming Fans of Mungalli on Facebook. So this makes us all incredibly happy.

Last week we had two schools in St Clares and St Gerards Majella

St Clares had a lot of energy and pushed through the activities even in the bad weather. This photo above displays the group perfectly. We accomplished a great deal whilst they were here, abseiling the vertical cliff at the falls, landslide actually we had so much to fit in we even did an evening archery. We hope they have all recovered from their time here at Mungalli and we hope to see them again.

St Gerards Majella experienced some heavy rain, but this down pour did not affect their enthusiasm. The days at Mungalli were packed full of fantastic activities, enabling them to concur some of the best activities. This group has a lot to be proud of from their time here at Mungalli, such as their abseiling skills. St Gerards Majella we look forward to seeing you next year.

2010 at Mungalli Falls

Well everyone is excited at Mungalli falls as the new school year has just started and we are all getting ready for the groups this year.

Over the Christmas break we had the pleasure of having our international schools, who are a lot of fun. Atherton After School Care came out for a whole day of activities with the Japanese students staying well into the evening dancing to an Australian bush dance. A lot of fun was had by all we even started to play with the new GoPro camera recording the impact of the water landings, such as Land slide and the Flying fox.
We had some students who stayed with local farms, experiencing a true Aussie Experience.

The festive season has been fun and now we are ready for new adventures for this year. Hopefully developing more activities.

Northeren Beaches

Northern Beaches came to Mungalli at the End of November, with only a small number of the students making it in the end. The advantage to this was we had a fantastic time, there was no rushing and I remember a fantastic afternoon Abseiling with them all. I believe some of them even went down the cliff around 8 times, and that was including the teachers. They were a great school and I look will look forward to seeing them again next year.

Giru & St Clare's

It was great to see this school again this year rather than waiting another year. This meant that some of them came last year, but this did not affect the fun we had doing activities. The groups all done different things depending on whether they had been to Mungalli before, we even fitted in a few more.

Giru & St Clare’s spent yesterday touring around the Tablelands and checking out the Crocs at Innisfail, pretty exciting stuff being near these dangerous animals.

These schools were the last schools to have the company of Matt, and the last cheeky cheeky dance routine. He will be truly missed.

Cardwell

Cardwell squeezed in a two day camp last week just at the end, they were looked after predominately by Clark and Tina, and done the wet muddy activities that everyone loves as well as perfecting their Archery Skills.

This school was great to see and I hope they come back next year, I wish I had a chance to spent a little more time with them but I did get an opportunity to take them to the glow worms. They had a fantastic night for it, the right level of darkness that enable you to see nearly all of them. Mind you the Waterfall is also magnificent from the bottom and fun to see under controlled torch lights.

Alligator Creek

This school last week was excellent, they also stayed all week which is great for us as we get to know them all a little better.

With one of those weeks at Mungalli Falls where you experience the true essence of a Rain Forest, a week of perpetual rain. This did not affect any of their enthusiasm for the week. Alligator creek also done Apply First aid with us at Mungalli, scheduling in some First aid session followed up by role play scenarios out on the field to test their skills; they all done amazingly well.

Having this school at Mungalli Falls was fantastic, they travelled for a day, explored this region and headed home after 6 days being out on the road away from home. I hope that this school will send in some photos as I know they took some amazing shots.

Kuranda College

Last week was reasonably busy with three schools in, Kuranda College, Alligator Creek and Cardwell.

Kuranda College came at the beginning of the week, half of them came to Mungalli and half went to Chillagoe, were they explored the caves and camped out under the stars. I believe they had a fantastic week and experienced glorious days. On the other hand the Kuranda College group at Mungalli experienced Mungalli in the wet. This is still a lot of fun, but you have to be prepared for the wet weather. The Kuranda school at Mungalli did some cool activities, abseiling, archery, Obstacle team build and landslide.

Holy Cross

This school left on Friday, and I have to confess I have not had much time to put up their photo till now, the school I hope had a fantastic time and the weather turned on the last day. They were the only ones here when the rain started but as you can see from their photo they all seemed to still be having fun, even if they were hiding in the restaurant.

They were a cool bunch, a lot of fun and they should be currently choosing their leaders for next year.

Currently we have two schools here, Kuranda college and Alligator Creek school; who rocked up to Mungalli at 0530!!! In the morning it was crazy. Mind you they did drive through the night, whilst Kuranda floated in later that day. Currently we have had a fair amount of rain but nothing that will hinder the fun.

Garbutt

Garbutt has been here nearly all week and today they leave. Some of them have been here before, last year they done the wet weather abseiling but this year we all got to do the waterfall site. Well those that wanted to did the abseiling.

Kennedy

Kennedy, what a school they only stayed overnight at Mungalli as they had already spent a night with the wild animals, lions and elephants at Mareeba. I don’t think Mungalli had the same strange noises whilst they tried to sleep, but I did hear odd noises and screams out of them when we done the activities. Kennedy only had the chance to do a couple of activities so we got to do the wet & muddy ones, zooming down the landslide and covering ourselves in the smelliest mud ever on the obstacle course.

St Johns

They had three days at Mungalli Falls, and I can’t believe I haven’t had a chance to talk about them until now. The school spent most of their time with Matt doing various activities, so I am not sure which one was their favourite.

Friday - 30/10/09

Friday morning was still rainy and everyone had fun. Middlemount headed off pretty early as they had a long journey a head of them, whilst Victoria had one more session of Activities.

The last morning, I took the younger grade for abseiling up on the blue line of Mungalli. It had been so long since I was out there the last entry was in March this year. So was when the last big rain occurred at Mungalli. The morning was pretty special as the location is amazing, from that abseil site we can see all of Mungalli. We watched the clouds form in the valley then as they passed us on the hill the clouds released the water.

The morning was wet and fun.

Victoria Plantation & Middlemount

The last few days have been fun, and maybe just a little wet. Victoria arrived on Wednesday when the weather turned to rain but we have still had a great time. Admittedly we rescheduled a few of the activities today so the real wet activities happened with the rain.
Middlemount on the other hand had a glorious day at Frankland Island basking in the sun.

Tomorrow everyone leaves Middlemount has a full on drive, so they are stopping at some unique spots on the way such as Mamu. Whilst Victoria we are doing one more session of activities before everyone leave.

Middlemount

Middlemount arrived Sunday night after a very long day on a bus. The group is very excited and seem full of energy. Yesterday we started the Mungalli falls activities, abseiling, landslide, obstacle and team build.
This school is going to be here all week, and they are even going to Franklin Island whislt they are here.

Today looks set to be another fantastic day, beautiful weather to be outdoors so I best go and get ready for the morning sessions.

Ryan's formal

The formal dinner was last night, everyone was paired up and looking glamorous. Photos were taken on the way into the formal dinner and some more were taken during the event.

Yesterday we had the arrival of Ryan's leadership camp.

This is the second camp Ryan has at Mungalli falls in a year, this one is dedicated to leadership.

Tomorrow is the big day for them with a special formal dinner on the last night. I always enjoy the excitement in the preparation for the formal dinner, Sue in the kitchen prepares a special dinner for the school, the whole event is engulfing.

I probably won't miss the air horn from this morning, but I hope they got to watch Rambo on their way home.

What a week for Wulguru.
Five fun packed days at camp. This is them this morning just before they left.

I could not resist uploading a picture of the Canoeing day for Wulguru.

This day for me will be remembered for a while and for that reason I can not help blogging this photo. Thankfully the site location is beautiful, the weather gorgeous and Crazy Clark aided in all the dramas of the day.

So these photos are for Wulguru. I hope they remember that the peace sign is a requirement of Archery and using more than two fingers to pull that string back, could endanger your other fingers.

Kirwan SS

Kirwan sadly left yesterday, I say sadly because due to other activities I was unable to say goodbye and tell them how fantastic they had been. The school had an amazing time, perfect weather fantastic attitude which makes for an awesome experience. Hopefully the school will read this and see that we loved having them at Mungalli falls and cannot wait to see them again.
Some of their photos will be added to the slide show, and I hope they are able to spot themselves. Kirwan your group was great, they achieved everything and thy should be very proud of themselves.

Heatley

Heatley left on Friday and sadly we were never able to get a school photo, but looking through the camera I did find this one of the last group Abseiling with Clark.

Hopefully next time we see them we will be able to get more photos. Or maybe they will send some to us.

Today we are currently waiting for 2 schools, Kirwin and Wulguru, they will be here just after Lunch ready to start activities.

St Clare's

St Clare's wet muddy and dirty after an afternoon hanging out at the team build and obstacle site. Currently standing under the Tree house that Clark is in the process of building, so I hope when it is finished it will be appreciated.

Farm Stay

This morning Uenogaka all arrived back from their farm stay families.

I believe they all enjoyed themselves as I watched farmers exchanging presents with the group and family photos being taken.

Heatley

Heatley SS arrived yesterday, they spent their afternoon doing activities up at the lodges then later after dinner Mat and Hilary accompanied them all down to the Glow worms. It was a beautiful night, some of them saw fire flies too. The Glow worms are always amazing to see.

Today we are starting Heatley's activities with Mungalli Staff, Abseiling, Team Build, Canoeing and Landsliding. These are some wicked activities so the next few days will be a lot of fun.

Later today I am looking out for St Clare's as they will also be arriving for 3 fun filled days, more about them later when I meet them.

Uenogaoka HS farm stay

What a beautiful morning.

Not only is the weather at Mungalli Falls still amazing but we currently have 380 students from Japan here waiting to experience a true Australian farm experience.
Over the next few days they will live with various families over the tablelands, engulfing themselves with Australian culture and nature.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Japanese students. I can't wait to hear how they all got on.

Thank you letters

Clark, Matt and Hilary all recently had a chance to read through the thank you letter from Tully SHS, the school visited Mungalli as a day excurtion partaking in Abseiling & Obstacle course.
We all agree that it was fantastic getting a chance to read these letters, and hear the groups opionion of the staff and the activities. So I have decided to upload some of the comments from the group.

I liked the way Clark was patient and telling jokes. ( Kris, Tully SHS 09)

I appreciate how Hilary taught us to abseil and got us to the bottom safely. I really enjoyed the obstacle course and raft building because of Matt's sense of humour. (Alistair, Tully SHS 09)

The thing what I thought were most enjoyable were the food, abseiling, flying fox and the james bond rope (James, Tully SHS 09)

Matt was very funny, he made the obstacle course fun. Matt had an awesome accent too. Hilary made abseilnig less scary for me... (Adrianna, Tully SHS 09)
